During spring March sees the temperatures start to raise up before the spring rains March and April are the ideal months to visit Spain in general. In April, one would expect spring to be pretty warm too, Spanish summers come on pretty quickly and spring is short in most of Spain, April sees the weather get a little wetter, as this is when we get the spring showers.

Spring Weather in Madrid.
Temperatures in Madrid improve a little, but not much, due to the arrival of the wet season. Expect the weather to vary considerably, heavy rains and showers and some hots days occasionally. May is often wet and temperamental. It still tends to rain a fair bit, between the rain storms you might see the odd bit of sunshine! Temperatures shoot up in May, especially towards the end of the month.

March is Hot in Barcelona - it's just not very consistent yet, by all means bring your swimming costume. Barcelona can also get pretty wet in March and April too, though not as bad as in other parts of the country.Barcelona in May doesn't quite see Madrid's upturn in temperatures, but it is definitely heading towards summer in Barcelona as well. It is drier than in Madrid too, so this is a good place to be in March.
