Spain weather overview - The weather in Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca, Madrid, Barcelona, The weather in Spain

The Spanish coastlines have the warmest climate of any country in Europe. From the beaches at Barcelona, down through the popular resorts of the Costa Blanca, Costa Calida, Almería and Costa del Sol, you’ll be able to enjoy more than 300 days of sunshine each year. Of those areas, Barcelona will usually have most rain, while at the other end of the coast, the Costa del Sol will always be the warmest weather coastline area on mainland Spain.

Places like Marbella and Malaga have what's called a micro-climate because they are ringed by mountain ranges, which keep out the worst of the clouds like a magnet. While the Balearic Islands, Ibiza, Majorca and Menorca enjoy weather similar to the Spanish coastline to their west.

Inland cities like Seville, Cordoba could be very hot during spring and summer. As you head around the coast towards Portugal, the Costa de la Luz and the province of Cadiz will always feel a little cooler, due to some fairly gusty winds blowing in from the Atlantic Ocean. But if you really want to feel the rays, then head for the Canary Islands.
