The Oxigeno Fitness Center is a health club with a bit of a twist, as it’s aiming itself very much to the young-ish market, ie. twenty to thirty-something professionals living in southern Spain with money to spend. It certainly provides all you’d expect from a top-class fitness centre, like step classes, weights, treadmills, yoga, pilates, etc. though with a trendy twist in design, layout, and overall ‘feel’ of the place. It would need to be, as it’s located within the stylish and ultra-modern La Cañada shopping centre, just outside Marbella – a huge undercover shopping Mecca, with brand names, massive supermarket (and I mean massive), cinema, ten-pin bowling and parking space for thousands of cars.

It’s within that kind of environment that Oxigeno has located itself, and as such, has to compete in a rather sophisticated market. In terms of facilities, Oxigeno covers an area of 3,700m², provides 150 different kinds of classes (including spinning), 120 exercise machines, 4 squash courts, a Turkish bath, Jacuzzi, Solarium, a restaurant/cafeteria, and as many personal trainers as you can shake a stick at.They like to separate your fitness ability and activities into four distinct levels: basic, sport, adventure, and extreme – presumably so you don’t injure yourself doing more than your body can chew.  There are also massage services, physiotherapy consultants, a hair salon, and free parking. In short, perfect for the modern-day health and fitness enthusiast.
