The weather, the weather, the weather!
It may be a constant theme, but southern Spain really does have the best climate in the whole of Europe. And that means outdoor living! Having lunch by the sea, inviting your friends round for dinner on the terrace on warm evenings, or just soaking up the sunshine while walking on the beach. It just makes you feel happier.
But it’s not just the weather that brings people here in their droves. Petty crime is far less here than in other European countries, so it feels safer for you and your family.

Lifestyle in Spain

It’s something of a cliché, but the main reason expats give for having come to Spain, is the warm weather. The draw of bright sunny days and balmy evenings should not be underestimated. It’s easy when you live in Spain to take it for granted, but the dark, cold, rainy days of countries elsewhere in Europe is often the main reason people give for leaving for leaving their home countries for a new, warmer life.

And the favourable climate is what leads to a better lifestyle. It means you can dine outdoors, with clean air and the sun’s rays. You can have barbecues with your friends. You can even go for a healthy dip in the sun-kissed sea.

Most expats choose to settle on the coastal regions of Spain, like the Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol, and it should be remembered that these areas can be very different to the rest of Spain – generally much warmer.

Because so many people from so many different countries come to live in Spain (not just from Europe, but also from south America) it makes those coastal regions very cosmopolitan.  People often say too that these coastal regions can be very intimate and friendly, as you tend to end up knowing every expat that lives there. Some say that’s not necessarily a good thing!

Lifestyle
also encompasses outdoor sporting activities like golf, tennis, and water sports – all are very popular among expats. And taking part in regular exercise is what makes for a healthier way of life.

Another seemingly obvious advantage about living in Spain is just how bright it is, compared to dark, dreary days in countries in northern Europe. It means that people just feel happier about themselves and more energetic and positive about life.
