The movers and shakers – interviews
Here we listen to the views of those who shape society in Spain, particularly in expat areas. These are the movers and shakers, the policy makers, the people who make the laws, and the people who are involved in the more social aspects of our society.
Mary Harboe is a journalist who has lived on the Costa del Sol for many years and currently has a radio show on REM radio in southern Spain. She also writes for UK publications.
Princess Maria Louise of Prusia has been involved in a considerable amount of charity work in the Marbella area of Andalucia, particularly in helping to promote awareness of HIV and care for patients.
And Count Rudi von Schonberg is a socialite who has been living in the Costa del Sol area for nearly fifty years. As such, he knows the coast more than most, and was one of the first members of the famous and influential Marbella Club.
These last two interviewees in particular have seen many changes to the area since they first came here, some good, some bad. In their individual interviews, they explain a little about why they came here, and what they think about it now. It is always useful to get the views of those who have been around longest. Wisdom comes with age, and often the elder statesman (and women) can provide extremely useful ideas and insights into our society.
