Estepona

Estepona, Top Costa del Sol Beach Resort

At the west end of the Costa del Sol, Estepona is one of the quieter beach resorts on this part of the coast in Andalucia. Around 75km from Malaga airport, Estepona is just 25km from Marbella and Puerto Banus. But unlike these more famous Costa del Sol travel destinations, Estepona is one of the few coastal towns that has succeeded in maintaining its Spanish pueblo charm and character.

Estepona, West Costa del Sol

Along with Estepona beach resort is the 'old town', one of the best preserved on the Costa del Sol and a bustling centre with numerous street cafes and tapas bars serving traditional Spanish delicacies, sometimes difficult to find in the more modern resorts on the Costa del Sol.

Unlike other beach resorts such as Torremolinos and Fuengirola, Estepona has managed to avoid a skyline of high rise hotels and apartments. On its western and eastern ends, Estepona is home to some of the most luxury new developments on the Costa del Sol and has become a favourite with foreign and Spanish residents for a holiday home.

Estepona Marina is one of the quietest on the Costa del Sol, but has its own fair share of bars, restaurants and night clubs, making strolling around the marina one of the best things to do on holiday in Estepona. Estepona has some of the best beaches on the Costa del Sol’s west end and the 23km stretch of sands make this quiet resort one of the most attractive for a family holiday destination on the Costa del Sol.

Things you Must Do and See in Estepona

Pick up a Bargain: Visit Estepona’s Wednesday market, one of the biggest on the Costa del Sol where stalls sell just about anything from fruit and vegetables to shoes.
On Safari: Selwo Adventure Park is the largest safari park on the Costa del Sol and one of the biggest in Spain. Highlights of the park, home to species of wild animals from the five continents, include the Valley Routes and Bird Canyon.
Dolphin Watching: The Costa del Sol’s Mediterranean waters are home to a surprising number of whales and dolphins. Book a boat trip and get out there to see them.
Climb Every Mountain: Estepona’s mountain, Los Reales, has some of the best views on the Costa del Sol. Take the car nearly up to the top and walk the short distance to the peak or follow one of the trails to see the unique Spanish fir trees.
Quad Riding: See the Costa del Sol from a quad bike and take in some of the beautiful countryside on the way.
