Puerto Banus in Marbella is world wide famous as being the playground of the rich and famous and whilst its current reputation leaves a little to be desired, what many don’t know is that most of the action is actually taking place on the beaches surrounding the legendary port.
A short stroll to the right off the main entrance of Puerto Banus, leads you to a succession of sandy bays bordered by some of the most luxury homes and urbanizations on the Costa Del Sol. Whilst there is of course a couple of typical Spanish chiringuitos, the majority of beach bars on this side of the coast compete in luxury facilities, top quality design and superior service.
Whilst public amenities aren’t fantastic you will find the basics like showers or life guards during the high season. The sand is fine and gray and the sea is generally calm due to the rocky jetty’s that create the bays making these beaches ideal for children.
Pedro's Beach
One is somewhat spoilt for choice as there’s something for everyone – Pedro’s Beach is considered to be a bit of an institution on the coast, this laid back Caribbean style beach hasn’t changed in decades and consistently offers fantastic fresh fish dishes, all kinds of juices and a hippy vibe hard to find on the coast these days.
Buddha Beach
A hop across the sandy road behind Pedro’s Beach leads you to Buddha Beach. One of the first boutique beaches, its intimate surroundings take inspiration from the Far East. The club area is separate from the shore and features raised wooden decking bordering a pool where you can indulge in a Zen massage in the spa or hire out individual or double sun beds! What more could you ask for?!
Ocean Club
If what you’re looking for is opulence on a big scale however, less than a stones throw away, you’ll find it at the Ocean Club. One of Europe’s biggest beach clubs with over 9000m2, the 2nd largest swimming pool of it’s kind in Europe and over 25,000 visitors last year alone – not to mention their VIP areas and notorious Champagne Parties – it’s clear that Ocean Club is not for the faint hearted!
Mistral Beach
