The Costa del Sol has many beach clubs, but probably the most famous and ostentatious is the Nikki Beach club, situated in Elviria, east of Marbella. It’s basically an upmarket restaurant and lounge club rolled into one, located right on the beach. There are huge white King size leather beds and four-poster hammocks which you can hire, while waiters and waitresses flit to and fro taking your champagne order as you relax on the beach. Every drink is available, including some fancy cocktails.

Nikki Beach also has one of the best sea-views anywhere on the coast and is immaculately designed and maintained. All of this comes at a price of course, so be prepared to get your credit card out! Nikki Beach also has bands and guest DJs on selected nights, and is a well-known venue for visiting celebrities, film crews, and fooballers.

The balmy evenings in Marbella make it a great venue for chilling out at night, and seriously topping up your posing credentials. Nikki Beach is actually part of a chain of beach clubs. The others are located across the world in places like Miami, New York, Sardinia, and St. Tropez. The Marbella one though is famous for its yearly ‘white’ party, where guests are strictly required to wear only white clothing (shirts, skirts, shoes, bras, everything!). Most of the coast’s movers and shakers attend, and tickets are scarce.

The food at Nikki Beach is served up al fresco and is quite spectacular, especially their seafood spread, which contains excellent sushi. You may think it a bit of a risk to only have an outside restaurant at the mercy of the elements, but even the occasional splash of rain (which is rare) is kept at bay by some fantastic canopies, which do the trick perfectly.

Contrary to what many people think, you don’t actually need to be a member to go to Nikki Beach, but taking out membership does come with certain privileges, like jumping the queue, getting priority on VIP areas, early warning of special parties etc......you get the picture.

So overall, if you want to seriously impress, and you’ve got the money to do it, then Nikki Beach is for you. Don’t have any illusions of finding anything Spanish there - it’s not that sort of place. But as beaches go, it really does command one of the best spots in southern Spain.
