Mijas Costa and Mijas Pueblo

The population of Mijas is more than 74,000 with a large proportion of foreign residents. Mijas Village has just 7,500 inhabitants. The weather is mild all year with an average temperature of 18 degrees.

A typically Andalucian white village, Mijas pueblo has managed to keep its old charm and traditions. The centre is a maze of narrow cobbled streets flanked by whitewashed Andalucian houses. Its stunning setting on the mountainside means views of the coastline are simply spectacular. You can see it all from a typical donkey taxi.

The light, atmosphere and lifestyle in the village have captivated many international artists now resident in Mijas. Local craft shops sell their handmade pottery and paintings.

Down on the coast, you find good tourist and sports facilities including several residential areas.
There’s a fun waterpark and a race course with regular meets – these take place at night in the summer. Numerous riding schools offer rides and classes. The 12km of coastline include small coves and a long sandy bay at La Cala.

For golf lovers, Mijas has a choice of 9 courses, several in the famous Mijas golf valley. The great climate means golf is year-round.
