Malaga – The Capital of the Costa del Sol

The capital of the Costa del Sol, on the mediterranean shore, Malaga is 53km from Nerja, to the east and 58km from Marbella, to the west. Spain’s 3rd largest airport is just 8km from the city centre.

Malaga is home to more than 600,000 people and attracts millions of tourists a year. The weather is mild all year with an average temperature of 23 degrees.

This cosmopolitan city has a rich artistic and cultural heritage.

Old town:
The old quarter in the city centre boasts numerous historic buildings, many of them religious. Calle Larios is Malaga’s most famous shopping street. With hundreds of restaurants and tapas bars, Malaga has a great atmosphere all day – and all night.

Malaga Museums:
Malaga has over 20 museums. Picasso was born in the city and there are several museums dedicated to him including the largest, Picasso Museum. The Contemporary Art Centre is also a highlight.

Port & Beaches:
Malaga is home to Spain’s 2nd largest port and hundreds of cruise ships dock here every year. Either side of the port are sandy beaches with typical beachbars serving traditional fresh fish and sangria at great prices.

Festivals:
Malaga loves a celebration and there’s a year-round calendar of musical and cultural events. One of the biggest and brightest is the annual Film Festival.

With its warm atmosphere and sunshine, Malaga makes for a historical, cultural and entertaining destination.
