La Herradura – A Bay of Tranquility

The small town of La Herradura lies on the Mediterranean in the province of Granada. It’s 70km to the east from Málaga airport and 100km south from the city of Granada.

La Herradura has a population of more than 30,000 including many foreigners. The climate is mild all year – expect warm winters between 14 to 20 degrees and summer temperatures of 24 to 26 degrees.

This quiet and unspoilt town is famous for its stunning bay. Naturally formed in the shape of a horseshoe, La Herradura bay is considered one of the most beautiful beach in Spain.

Town & Bars:
The town itself is Andalucian style with lots of friendly bars with sunny terraces where you can enjoy tapas and international cuisine. At night, many bars and restaurants have live music.

Watersports & Cerro Gordo:
La Herradura’s surroundings and mild climate make it the perfect destination for leisure activities. Watersports are favourites, particularly sailing or scuba diving. Hikers will enjoy the walks around the headland of the Cerro Gordo Natural Park with its Moorish watch tower.

Punta de la Mona & Marina:
To the east of the town is Punta de la Mona, a rocky outcrop home to many luxury villas. On the shore is Marina del Este harbour, a main centre for watersports.
